International Shimmy Mob
(Riverside, California)-
Dance & join the movement!

Shimmy Mob, a "Flash Mob" type event, the largest event of its kind by the number of geographical territory covered in one day creating awareness and raising funds for Women’s and Children’s shelters in participating communities.  Shimmy Mob is typically held on 'World Belly Dance Day' in many cities across the US, Canada, and all over the world!

This Shimmy Mob sits close to our hearts here in Riverside, some of us are domestic abuse survivors, some know who have been in these situations, some of us have worked as counselors or resources with charities and safe houses for domestic abuse survivors.....and all support the cause and awareness to help these women, children, and even men empower themselves through outreach and the community.

Everyone is welcome to participate! Beginning through advanced level dancers of cabaret, fusion, tribal style bellydance - Never taken a bellydance class? NO PROBLEM! We hold clinics and classes to assist you to dance in our world wide event! Participants converge at our various designated locations in Riverside to raise awareness against domestic violence and we typically end our day with a hafla (bellydance party) in the end of the afternoon.
